CIVIC Acquires Wave Kilo

Deal Strengthens Corporate and Technology Communications Offerings
NEW YORK, NY (April 14th, 2026) — CIVIC, the brand experience agency known for driving
growth through the power of community, today announced its acquisition of Wave Kilo, a
strategic communications consultancy that helps companies at every stage, from start-up to
unicorn to Fortune 500, disrupt markets, accelerate growth and redefine their business through
communications.
Founded by Howard Clabo, a former Chief Communications & Brand Officer who led
communications at Hewlett-Packard, Applied Materials, FedEx and Aura, Wave Kilo brings a
strong track record of advising CEOs, boards and executive teams through leadership changes,
mergers and acquisitions, activist shareholder campaigns, business transformations,
restructurings, narrative shifts and corporate milestones.
Stuart Ruderfer, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, CIVIC, said: “Corporate leaders are dealing with
continuous transformation at unprecedented speed and looking to us to help translate these
pivot points into opportunities for growth across their internal and external communities. Wave
Kilo’s expertise is exactly what we need to do that at scale. We’re thrilled to welcome Howard, a
longtime partner, and the team to CIVIC.”
The acquisition expands CIVIC’s existing consumer public relations capabilities, led by Julie
Safer, Managing Director, Head of PR, one of the agency’s fastest-growing disciplines, which is
focused on maximizing visibility and shaping cultural conversations for clients across
entertainment, celebrity and sports. Wave Kilo’s focus on corporate storytelling complements
these offerings with expertise in corporate communications, executive visibility and thought
leadership, brand positioning, issues and crisis management and corporate affairs.
“Our companies share a singular mindset– change isn’t something to fear, it should be
harnessed,” said Howard Clabo, Founder and CEO of Wave Kilo. “Our team of dedicated
strategists, creators and activators see transition as an opportunity to connect with
stakeholders– internal and external– in new ways and position companies for the next chapter
of their story.”
With offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, Wave Kilo will continue to operate as a stand-
alone offering within CIVIC, reporting into Ruderfer.
Wave Kilo’s high-touch communications expertise, paired with CIVIC’s scale and integrated
capabilities, creates a new kind of agency — built for the moments that matter most. The
combined offering can help companies communicate with clarity and authority to build
community and turn moments of transformation into opportunities that shape markets, influence
stakeholders and define corporate futures.
