To celebrate Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s MARS, National Geographic hosted “Experience MARS: IMSF Recruitment Center” in downtown New York City, featuring the first-ever commercial use of a robot paired with immersive VR.
Astronaut recruits experienced a bumpy Martian landing, explored authentic replicas of NASA’s Mars rovers, bounded across the surface (on zero-gravity treadmills) and completed tasks to survive under the jarring atmospheric pressure of the Red Planet.
