As the annual celebration of New York’s creative spirit, Tribeca Festival became the first major gathering to return, taking on extra symbolism amid the city’s reopening and resurgence during COVID. 2021 marked the introduction of Podcasts to the Tribeca competition, removing the word “Film” from the festival’s title to become the first major event to include original audio storytelling – looking toward the future of the booming medium. Audible seized the opportunity, becoming the first-ever official audio entertainment partner of the Tribeca Festival, reinforcing its position at the forefront of the golden age of audio.

Audible’s presence at the festival celebrated Tribeca creators, and coinciding with Pride and Juneteenth, amplified LGBTQ+ and Black creators with a cadence of premieres, programming and panels, including:

  • The premiere of Hot White Heist, an Audible Original

  • Live drag show feat. Sasha Velour and her NightGowns Revue

  • Juneteenth panel spotlighting Black voices in audio entertainment feat. The Roots’ Tariq Trotter and the head of Audible Studios

  • “The Future of Podcasting” panel hosted by REDEF’s Jason Hirschhorn, featuring Audible’s Head of US Content

  • Tribeca’s first Audio Creators Cocktail Party, an exclusive industry and creator networking event
